Bahamas to launch major domestic airlift push as part of 2026 tourism strategy

If the Out Islands are on your wish list, getting there just got simpler. A wave of new and expanded routes adds fresh, flexible options—perfect for weekend escapes, family getaways, and second-home scouting across The Bahamas.

What’s New

  • American Airlines → Bimini (from Miami)
Launching February 14, 2026, operating three times weekly—a fast hop to world-class fishing, beaches, and resorts.

  • Tradewind Aviation → Marsh Harbour & North Eleuthera (from Fort Lauderdale)
Starting December 11, 2025, with service five days a week—premium, small-craft convenience to Abaco and Eleuthera.

  • Aztec Airways → North Eleuthera
Daily direct flights announced—more seats and simpler access to Harbour Island, Spanish Wells, and Eleuthera’s pink-sand escapes.

Existing Connections (Still Going Strong)

  • Bahamasair: Reliable links Nassau ↔ North Eleuthera and Nassau ↔ Cat Island (New Bight Airport).

  • Other carriers: United, JetBlue, and others continue broader Nassau connections to major U.S. cities and onward island travel.

Why This Matters

More frequencies and new departure cities mean:

  • Shorter travel days and smoother weekend trips

  • Better connection timing for U.S. travelers

  • More availability during peak seasons

  • Easier property visits across Eleuthera, Abaco, Bimini, and Cat Island

Smart Planning Tips

  • Check schedules before you book. Start dates and frequencies vary by route and may change.

  • Build buffer time if connecting via Nassau—especially with checked bags or inter-island transfers.

  • Compare total travel time. Premium regional carriers can save hours on short island hops.

  • Book early for holidays. Out Island seats sell out fast in winter and spring.
